--
Meaning of the lyrics:
Though Nambu may seem rural, it is a land of abundance from east to west. [The line also appears in the Karamebushi of Iwate Prefecture.]
Next time you come, please bring nagi [Nageia nagi] leaves from the deep mountains. [The nagi leaves are believed to have a magical significance.]

Description:
In the Nambu region of Iwate Prefecture, known for its cattle and horses, this song was sung when transporting rice on the backs of cattle to places like Morioka. Interestingly, its melody is similar to the “Kariboshi kiriuta” from the distant Miyazaki Prefecture. The chant 'pa pa...' is used to wake up drowsy cattle or to prompt them to stop in hazardous locations.
